Hello ~ I’m glad you’re here.
After working as a legal secretary and executive assistant for over thirty years, I’ve reached a stage in my life where I want to go forward with something far more fun and rewarding. To that end, I’ve launched into editing for other writers because I enjoy editing. On the other side of the same coin, I write because I enjoy writing. For now, I’m focusing on memoirs and biographies. Perhaps in the future, i’ll jump into the detective fiction arena, but for now, it’s memoir/biography.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has taken over our lives and has certainly moved my life plans along, far faster than I had originally calculated. Currently, most of my family members, extended family and friends are quarantined at home, some working in essential roles. Those of us who have the ability are linked up at home to our offices through Citrix or other software.
My law firm experience entails everything from legal documents of all types, shapes, lengths and sizes to discoverable email correspondence. I’m learning how to blog. Look for me on Facebook and Linkedin. This past year, I became a member of several local (San Diego) writing and editing groups that meet up on Zoom these days rather than in person. I graduated from online editing courses at a Portland, Oregon university a few years ago. I offer my services to writers just like you.
If you have a manuscript you’d like readied for self-publication or submission to a traditional publishing house, I am happy to edit your memoir (or biography) no matter what stage you think it’s currently in. Together, we can create a well-written book you’ll be proud of.  I hope you will contact me to discuss your project.

I am at home in San Diego, California. Born and raised in the great Pacific Northwest, I lived the majority of my life in Southwest Washington State but have lived in many parts of the country. I earned a B.S. in Social and Behavioral Sciences with a minor in English from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. I was at home and worked for many years in Portland but, if pressed, will still admit to being a Washingtonian.
I am Mom to two grown children (a son and a daughter), Cheryl to my second daughter (my son’s wife), Nana to my granddaughter and Cheryl (or Rynn) to my friends and family. Life is full and full of surprises.
As a writer, I have independently published a memoir (in effect my knee-jerk reaction to the Great Recession of 2007 and beyond). I have also penned short stories, finished two stage plays with a third (a comedy) in the works, began crafting a detective mystery novel (not a noir but a contemporary bank cyberhack) and am proceeding at a snail’s pace through to the words “THE END” of a screenplay. The short stories, the plays, the novel and the screenplay haven’t yet moved from the page to the pitching or publishing stage, but I’m working towards that resolution on all of them.
I understand very well how terrifying the next step can be, more than likely, it’s the reason I haven’t taken that step myself, except for the memoir I self-published on Amazon in 2015. But as to the memoir, I felt the need to just stop writing and toss it to the wind to discover where it would take me. I love the English language ~ reading, writing, speaking, and listening. If you think you might be interested in what I can offer you, please contact me.
It would be my pleasure to provide editorial services as follows:
Manuscripts:  I can offer you solid, dependable editing and fast turnaround as you proceed through the process of writing, editing, publishing and marketing your book. I am seeking writers interested in independent online publishing, i.e., Amazon KDP, Smashwords, Lulu, et al. I’ve gotten through the self-publishing maze myself, learned a great deal and have figured out how to land on the other side in relatively one piece. Alternatively, you may wish to hire an agent and/or submit your manuscript to a traditional publishing house such as Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster to name a few, which is a much longer process but could ultimately pay off for you in a big way. Whichever avenue you choose to take, we can work on your manuscript together.
Note: Reputable local and regional publishing houses are available in most large markets, so that’s always an option. We have several top-notch houses in San Diego.
